Live Music | Nic Quilter & The Prisoners of Jazzkaban

The Prisoners of Jazzkaban is a bar band that doesn’t know Sweet Caroline, a rock band that doesn’t turn the volume up to 11, and a jazz band that doesn’t wear ties. They aren’t quite sure who they are, which is probably why their name is a Harry Potter pun.

Nic Quilter charges the band through an electric, eclectic, extra-curricular set of tight grooved originals, obligatory covers, and unnecessarily action-packed arrangements.

The band is a five man tour de force featuring a tight rhythm section and a pro horn section. Imagine Coltrane on Blinding Lights, Macio Parker on My Maria, Stan Getz on Dancing in the Moonlight — and you’ll get the picture.
